I'm Zainab - a therapeutic counsellor, a mentor and someone who believes that every person deserves the chance to feel seen, supported and capable of change.

My journey working in social services and schools over the last 12 years, has shown me that what really matters is building genuine relationships with young people.

A social worker recognised the trust I was able to build with some of the most challenging individuals and asked me to take on mentoring privately.
Twelve years later, mentoring is not just my work — it’s my calling.

I’m a Level 4 qualified, MNCPS Accredited, person-centred, therapeutic counsellor.

I’ve worked as a pastoral leader and Head of Year in schools, and I’m currently volunteer counselling at both; the BRIT School working with young people 14-18 years old, and London Friend, a leading LGBT+ charity, working with clients aged 18+.

I identify as an LGBTQIA+ black Lesbian mother, who was born and raised in the North of England and my pronouns are she/her.

Being a trustee for Funpact is really special to me because I believe so strongly in what the charity stands for. I’ve seen how powerful it is when young people are given the chance to build confidence, find their voice, and feel part of something positive. Funpact creates those opportunities in such a genuine and supportive way, and that’s why I’m so passionate about being involved. It’s a privilege to help the charity grow and continue making a difference in young people’s lives.

Reaching out for help can feel like a big step.

My role is to offer a safe, supportive space where we can talk openly and without judgement, and explore the challenges faced, and find ways forward.
